Helen Solterer is Professor of French and Francophone studies at Duke University. Her research and teaching focus on pre-modern literature and culture, and their interplay with modern and contemporary thought. Author of several prize-winning books and a collection of essays, her most recent book, Medieval Roles for Modern Times (2010), adapted in French was featured at the History Book Festival in Blois, France (2014). Timely Fictions, her current book project, addresses Calais.
