Joseph Mulligan, PhD Candidate in Romance Studies

Joseph Mulligan is a PhD Candidate in Romance studies, whose dissertation addresses public education, popular literacy and the aesthetics of revelation in Trans-Atlantic Literary Modernism, paying focal attention to acts of cultural brokerage in the poetics of María Zambrano, Octavio Paz, and Jaime Saenz. Other lines of inquiry include cultural mediation, theories of community, politics of aesthetics, and countercultural literary production. His digital humanities research in Digital Scholarship Services explores pedagogical applications of digital corpora and text analysis of open-source archives. He is the translator of César Vallejo.
