Learning Communities

inTransit was an interdisciplinary project, first launched as a collaboration between the Romance Studies Department, the Nasher Museum, and the Franklin Humanities Institute Social Practice Lab. It then came to involve collaborations across campus with the Art, Art History and Visual Studies Department, Duke Libraries, the Center for International and Global Studies, Asian and Middle Eastern Studies, the Africa Initiative, the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, The Kenan Institute of Ethics. It received support from the Office of the Provost through the VP of Interdisciplinary Studies, and French Cultural Services.

The project developed along five interconnected lines (color-coded for ease of reference in the map of the project: Courses and Seminars, Art Practice, Art Exhibits, Conferences and Events, and Partnerships.
